My Story

In the 1980s I wrote romances using the pseudonym Anne Beverley. Then a busy career and family life got in the way and, before I knew it, I had turned my back on the characters who were begging to be liberated from my imagination. Now I am back to writing fictions again and, considerably older and no long shy, I write under my own name.

My motto is a quote by the late Ray Bradbury: First, find out what your hero wants. Then just follow him. I start with plots, chapter outlines, characterisation. I know all the rules and faithfully obey them each time I start  a new story. Then the hero takes over and I follow him instead.

Although family remains central to my life, I still find the time to read, to write and to travel. Many of the places I visit feature in my books. Fans say reading them is like buying a ticket to romance.
